Help Celebrate more 5th Birthdays in Mozambique
Story
In Mozambique, 44% of children under 5 are stunted from chronic illness and malnutrition. COVID-19 further threatens maternal and child health. Join PCI Media in changing this narrative by supporting our work to share vital health information and spark positive behavior changes via radio-the lifeline to the hardest to reach communities. One episode of our radio program, Ouro Negro (Black Gold), reaches 1.5 million people.
Impact
Help us to bring these lifesaving stories to many more listeners in remote areas of Mozambique. Since Black Gold first aired in 2015, we have built an audience of approximately 1.5 million and 70% of listeners surveyed report that they have already positively changed one or more behaviors as a result. Together, we can help Mozambicans protect the most precious resource they have: the health and life of children and mothers. Help celebrate more and more 5th birthdays in Mozambique.
Challenge
Each year, 97 out of every 1000 children in Mozambique die before reaching their fifth birthdays-one of the highest infant mortality rates in the world. Almost half of Mozambican children suffer from chronic malnutrition which negatively affects their physical and mental growth and 80% have no access to adequate sanitation facilities. COVID-19 will further impact access to health care services and information.
