Mission

Mission: To promote human advancement by engaging the poor in rural Guatemala through health and community development to effect long-term change in families and their communities Our goal is to break the vicious cycle of poverty by working hand-in-hand with the indigenous Mayans in rural mountain communities in San Martin, Jilotepeque. We engage the people to participate in projects to improve their health and overall well-being. At the same time they learn skills and strategies to promote sustainable development in their communities.

Most families in rural Guatemala still cook on open fires. This not only causes multiple health problems but also destroys the environment. For just $140 we can provide a clean cooking stove for a family to avoid further health issues and deforestation. 5,300 families have already received a vented, safe Chapina stove improving the lives of over 27,200 people. But the waiting list is very long and our goal is to install another 100 stoves in the upcoming months. Please help us reach our goal!
